Yes folks another screen grabber for the Atari ST. Why (you
might ask) would anyone want this one?

Some screen grabbers install as desk accessories and may only be
used when you have access to a GEM Menu Bar. Other screen grabbers
replace the Alternate-Help screen dump and can not be disabled
    without rebooting the computer.

The advantage that Snapit has over the other popular screen
grabbers is that it replaces the Alternate-Help screen dump, so a
menu bar is not needed, and the user has the ability to turn on and
off the grabber feature when they choose, without rebooting the
    computer.

When you run Snapit for the first time a GEM alert box will
appear prompting you to 'Install' or 'Cancel'. Selecting the
'Install' button will install Snapit in the system and activate
the grabber feature. Selecting the 'Cancel' button will cancel this
operation. You may install Snapit at boot time by placing a copy
in the AUTO folder of your boot drive.

If you choose to install Snapit from the AUTO folder, a brief
message will appear during the boot process, and Snapit will
automatically be installed in the system and activated, no GEM
    alert box will appear.

Once Snapit is active it will save a copy of the screen to a
DEGAS format file every time that the 'ALTERNATE & HELP' keys are
pressed simultaneously. The file will appear in the root directory
of the disk drive that Snapit was installed from.

The file created by Snapit will be named 'SNAPITxx.PI?', where
'xx' will be a number from 00-99, and '?' will be the screen
resolution for that picture file. If a disk error accrues during a
screen grab the system bell will ding. This will likely be because
the disk is full, write protected, or not in the drive. This will
also happen if you have 100 Snapit pictures with the same extension
on the disk drive, if this accrues simply rename these files or
    move them to another location.

Once installed Snapit will be in the system until you reboot the
computer, however the user may turn the screen grabber feature off
by running 'SNAPIT.PRG' again. If Snapit is already installed in
the system it will detect itself and prompt the user with a GEM
alert box. The GEM alert box will ask if you wish to 'Remove'
Snapit if it is active, or if you wish to 'Install' Snapit if it is
inactive, selecting the 'Cancel' button at any prompt will cancel
    the action.

When you 'Remove' Snapit it replaces the vector for the
Alternate-Help screen dump with the vector that was at this
    location when Snapit was installed.
